Spray Analysis & Research Services

Overview

For more than 30 years, Spraying Systems Co. has maintained the industry's most fully equipped spray nozzle test laboratories to conduct the studies necessary to optimize spray system performance. Now, you can utilize these laboratories and our highly trained staff to conduct conceptual product design tests or test new quality control processes.

We are offering our Spray Analysis and Research Services to better provide you a complete, full-service company: from concept testing to final product design and manufacture.

Our Capabilities

Spraying Systems Co. pioneered drop size analysis in the early 1960's with the development of an electronic analyzer. It was a milestone achievement in accurately measuring drop size within a spray's environment. Spraying Systems Co. later added a light diffraction instrument followed by the addition of an imaging analyzer and a light scattering instrument using Phase Doppler techniques. By using this instrumentation, Spraying Systems Co. can characterize sprays and obtain valuable information, such as drop size diameter averages, distribution, and velocity profiles, within the accepted standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).

Our Areas of Expertise

Our fully equipped spray nozzle test laboratories offer the ideal environment for testing conceptual product designs, quality control process testing, and spray characterization of a customer's proprietary solution.

High-performance spray systems are critical operating components for hundreds of industries. Spraying Systems Co. has worked with these industries through our testing services to help them determine if their spray nozzle performance is optimal, and if not, how to quickly improve performance to save valuable time and money.

Our highly trained engineers and technicians have experience in the following spray system applications:

  • Coatings
  • Chemical processes
  • Cooling
  • Fire suppression
  • Food processing and powders
  • Gas absorption and cleaning
  • Humidification
  • Mining
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Pollution control
  • Pulp and paper
  • Spray drying
  • Spray painting

Our Facilities

Our worldwide spray laboratories include spray setups for low and high pressure testing. These laboratories house a variety of state-of-the-art measuring instruments, including:

  • Phase Doppler, Laser Imaging, and Laser Diffraction Particle Analyzers
  • Impact Measurement Device
  • Spray Nozzle Patternators
  • Noise Level Measuring Test Stand
  • Air and Liquid Flow Instrumentation

Our Credentials

Our staff is actively involved in the international drop size community. Currently, they participate as board members of the Institute of Liquid Atomization and Spray Systems (ILASS) and as members of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM/Subcommittee E29 on Particle Size Measurement). With over 30 years of experience, our staff is highly knowledge in spray characterization and research techniques.
